The regime’s officials admit to the deteriorating state of prisons in Iran PDF Print E-mail

NCRI - The head of the Iranian regime’s prisons, Ali-Akbar Yasaqi admitted to the torturous situation of prisons, saying, “If the tendency to have more prison sentences prevails the government should build more prisons. The presence of 150,000 inmates in the prisons, which have the capacity of 60,000 people, is unjust,” the state-run daily Quds reported December 9.

More than 780 demonstrations, strikes, protests, and clashes took place in the Iranian month ending November 21. The figures indicate a 54-percent rise in comparison to the same period last year, according to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.

NCRI - In the run up to Student Day on December 7, in fear of increasing students’ demonstrations and protests, the inhuman mullahs’ regime has intensified suppressive measures.

The regime’s suppressive forces have barred some students from enrolling in graduate schools despite their academic eligibility. The process of so called “marking” dissident students has been stepped up; it is a way to stop them from continuing their higher education.

NCRI - Today, concurrently with the meeting of the UN Security Council’s permanent members plus Germany over the Iranian regime’s nuclear projects, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad attempted to blackmail these countries to force them to back down. He said, “From now on, if you attempt to resist the Iranian nation’s right through propaganda or in any other form, the Iranian nation will consider this an act of hostility and will revise its relations [with] you.” He reiterated, “Iran will continue its path to produce nuclear fuel for all its power plants with wisdom and awareness.”

NCRI - Yesterday, the Commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guards Corps,  Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, speaking at the gathering of Bassij forces, absurdly repeated the hollow slogans and said, “Powerful Iran is an invincible power in the region.” He did not hide the mullahs’ fear of social uprisings, “Wherever the situation gets out of hand and the State Security Forces are not able to cope and the situation becomes restive, obviously, the presence of Bassij forces brings back calm and lasting security,” he added.
